Billionaire Ken Griffin continues to express strong confidence in Miami real estate, revealing new details about Citadel’s upcoming Brickell supertall tower while praising the city’s growth and safety. Griffin, who relocated his hedge fund Citadel to Miami in 2022, said the new headquarters project will be one of the most ambitious developments in the city’s history.
“That’s going to be around a $2.5 billion tower,” Griffin told Bloomberg, noting that construction will likely begin in mid to late next year, with financing decisions also expected in 2026. The mixed-use tower will include Citadel’s global headquarters, additional office space for other companies, and a luxury hotel component designed to attract high-end tenants and visitors alike.
Griffin expressed confidence that demand will remain strong, saying that Miami continues to face a shortage of top-tier, or Grade A, office space due to the rapid influx of firms relocating to South Florida in recent years. This surge has transformed the city into one of the most desirable business destinations in the United States.
When asked whether he plans to acquire more property in the region, Griffin praised the area’s enduring appeal. “South Florida has something that the rest of the world wants,” he said. “It has oceanfront property in a state with extraordinarily safe streets, great schools, a strong sense of community, and great cultural institutions.”
Griffin also emphasized Miami’s growing global stature. “Miami is one of the most vibrant cities in the world,” he said. “When it comes to a real estate portfolio, you’d be hard-pressed to beat the returns of real estate in South Florida over the last seven years.”
